First thing’s first. Finally! A set of chairs that do NOT discriminate against those of us with hefty body types. I’m 6 ft. 5 in. tall and I weigh 341 lbs. So let me tell you I’ve sent many a chairs to an early grave. Many of those chairs claimed to be for larger framed bodies. Well unfortunately for us big folk. Claims like that are easy for companies to get away with when their customers only have but a photo of the product and an assumption that a furniture company wouldn’t dare misquote a fact about their product. With that said, I am very pleased to announce that my large body has found heaven here on earth within the comfort and rugged construction of these chairs and speaking of photos. The photos of these chairs do not do them justice. Our many guest love the look and feel of them maybe more than I am willing to acknowledge. I always invite my guest to join me on my mighty comfortable sectional couch for a movie after they’re done dining but they choose to stay sitting on these pieces of art and watch from there. Thank goodness for my open floor plan. We’ve never spent so much time in the dining room prior to the arrival of these chairs. No more getting up to stretch after hours of playing board games. Then again, the downside is I’m also left with one less excuse to exit from participating in a board game my 81 year old mother in-law wants to over and over and over and over again. So in that aspect, every rose has it’s thorns. Bottom line: On behalf of us super size’s, I’m one happy customer at last.

The fabric looks like a well-loved (i.e., distressed) bomber-jacket leather and feels like suede; the color (compared to the picture as it appear on my screen) is a darker and more of a reddish, chocolatey brown. The frame appears to be made of pine and cardboard, the legs of a dense (fruit?) wood. The seat is atop a springy wire mesh.

Pros: looks more expensive than it is. The back is comfortable.

Cons: the under-side build quality is a bit hit-or-miss—I purchased 6 of these chairs and at least half of them had some issue that made inserting a leg problematic (a hole that was a little too small, staples or protrusions that scraped the finish). The seat is “firm” and not particularly comfortable (perhaps in time it will relax). When inspected closely the fabric looks like it’s flecked with black paint (that’s a minor nit).

Parting thoughts: I wanted leather, but knew it wasn’t a good idea (from sad experience, I know all to well what kitty claws can do to leather upholstery); so I got the look of leather and hopefully it’ll withstand the cat. Good value for the price ($150 a chair).
