The size of this corner TV Stand was perfect for the dimensions of our living room with little wall space. Fits perfectly into a corner, is unobtrusive and looks quite nice though it is not built with real wood veneer. The drawers hold lots of CD’s and videos. Assembly goes right according to directions and it is quite an amazing engineering design that all the parts fit together perfectly. Most of my equipment fits easily into the shelf spaces.

The only problem I had was to discover that the cabinet space available for my amplifier was much too small for the recommended ventilation required according to the manual. Amplifiers put out much more heat than a DVD & CD Player or VCR. Also the maximum weight on the bottom two shelves is 20 lbs and my amplifier weighs 25 lbs. The movable shelves are supposed to support 25 lbs. One option to provide better ventilation would be to take off the cardboard backing. But the Sauder directions for assembly say the unit could be unstable without the back attached. I ended up putting my amplifier on an open shelf I fortunately had available behind the TV Stand. Overall I’m happy with the product filling my special needs for space and efficiency as well as a very reasonable cost.

Good: An attractive, solid (for a flat-pack) piece of furniture. Plenty of room for components and whatnot, and adequate room behind for cabling and a modest subwoofer. Easy, albeit time-consuming, assembly – this is a complex kit. Perfect size for our 46″ monitor.

Bad: One piece was incorrectly drilled. Fortunately it was a support piece out of sight underneath the unit; easily remedied with a 3/32″ drill. One of the drawer pulls was broken, BUT I was able to order a free replacement from Sauder’s website, no questions asked. Also, I very much wish Sauder and the rest would get away from the concept of the *cardboard back* as a *structural component*; this doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the product. Would a couple of metal braces really be that much of a problem? Fortunately, this particular unit seemed sturdy before the back went on.

    Things you need to know:

    – Have a friend or a hand-truck available – they aren’t kidding about the 131 pound shipping weight, and it comes in ONE package.
    – If you don’t own a good power screwdriver, *get one*. There are well over 100 screws in this kit, many in somewhat tight spaces. Make sure it has a torque adjustment; as with all particleboard, care is needed to avoid stripping screws. Medium and large Phillips screwdrivers are still needed to tighten cam-locks and the short drawer-guide screws.
    – Allow an afternoon for assembly, even if you have a friend / spouse assisting. Again, this is a complex kit and there are a lot of fasteners in awkward places requiring precise alignment; you don’t want to rush any part of the process.
    – Don’t even try to move the finished unit without help – the bottom trim and mounts aren’t very solid, and they might bend or break if you drag or walk the unit across a carpet. Care is needed in any event.

All in all, a nice piece of furniture at a good price, and not unreasonably difficult to put together. The one bad-part issue was quickly and easily remedied through Sauder’s website. We’re very happy with it. Five stars.

The Sauder Corner TV stand is very well designed and engineered. It is sturdy and attractive. The only complaint I have is the assembly time. It took me roughly 5 hours to complete. There are 128 screws to put in. As long as you have the time and patience for assembly I would strongly recommend this stand.
